Mumm Napa Brut Prestige

Our go to champagne cocktail fake champagne.  Usually too pricey, but the BC Liquor Board recently had it on sale for $22.99 (regularly $25.99) so it was time to get a few bottles into the “cellar.”

I like this straight in my old-school champagne coupe, where it gives off a much more appealing bouquet than a flute, or in a flute with just a dash of Campari.  It holds up well to virtually any champagne cocktail, and we generally prefer it to Cava or Prosecco when we are flush enough to cough up $26 for a wine that should be ten dollars cheaper.  Holds its bubbles with a proper stopper overnight although its effervescence is brash and ostentatious and without the meter of the real McCoy.  Not sweet, not harsh, a just right bubbly, and much less sinful to mix at the bar than true champers.

Price: $25.99 at BC Liquor.

Market Liquidity: Not champagne, but it has the kick.
